Anne Palmer writes:
I was very sorry to learn of the death of Lord Hamilton of Dalzell, for
although I had never met him, I had corresponded with him after his
article "Manifesto for Sovereign Britain" was printed in The Freedom
Association magazine. Lord Hamilton had put forward a written
Constitution for the United Kingdom whereas I just wanted our Common Law
Constitution to be enforced. He put forward an excellent argument for
his case for a written Constitution. Several times after that when
other legislation was put forward that challenged our Constitution, or
when I had asked of him a question, he always very courteously answered,
his advice and friendship was always welcomed for I knew it was always
well thought out and reliable. I am sorry that I never met him for
he was indeed a gentleman that made life all the richer for his having
touched it one way or another. He so obviously deplored what this
Government had done and are continuing to do to the House of Lords he so
loved taking part in. He put up a good fight for his country. He will
be greatly missed by all I am sure, yet this charming true gentleman
signed his e-mails simply "James". My deepest sympathy to his wife
Corinna and family. |
